Lerwell Farm is situated in beautiful North Devon countryside less than a mile from the picturesque village of Chittlehampton. The village was once a place of pilgrimage to the shrine of St Hieretha, a local Christian martyr in Saxon times. Chittlehampton village square is a conservation area lined with thatched and slated cottages and an impressive church, which was extensively remodelled in the 15th Century.

The Lerwell Farm holding is believed to date back to the 1200's with the Lerwill family relocating elsewhere in North Devon sometime in the late 1400's. The current thatched farmhouse is Grade II listed and was modernised in the late 1600's and later in 2001/2002 after it fell into disuse. The barns were built 1870/1871 and, Mike and Sue, who bought the farm in December 2002, started converting them from Spring 2003. The last barn to be converted was the Granary in 2005.

The aim during the conversions was to give them as much modern convenience as possible while still retaining the natural stone, beams, vaulted ceilings and external character of the buildings.

North Devon has a wealth of things to see and do, and is more accessible nowadays with the North Devon link road adjacent to Junction 27 on the M5. The area is a great combination of beach and countryside, towns and villages. All in all great for swimming, surfing, walking, riding (horses and bicycles), playing, shopping or just simply relaxing.
